Meet The Team

Over the coming months we will be featuring some of our team members on our blog, first up is our Events Manager Claire who will be attending the Wedding Journal Show Live at Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast this weekend, showcasing our wedding brochure and Bishops Gate Wedding Collection Package to couples searching for their perfect wedding venue.

How Long Have You Worked In Bishops Gate Hotel:

I joined the hotel at the end of November 2015 – a few months before the hotel opened.

What is your role at Bishops Gate Hotel:

I am the Events Manager for the hotel so I help to organise events which take place in our Northern Counties Ballroom, Hervey Library and 7 London Street private spaces.

These can include Weddings, Christenings, Anniversary Celebrations & Corporate Events such as interviews, event launches or training seminars.

I also look after the hotel’s social media channels and update our website.

My job involves a lot of different activities, no 2 days are ever the same but I think that’s why I enjoy it so much. 

Wedding couples are breaking away from long held traditions and focusing on things that are important to them e.g. we have hosted celebrations where couples opted to have a Cheese-cake instead of a more traditional style, one couple opted not to have a cake at all. Another couple chose to have a very intimate wedding for only 6 guests - our Hervey Library provided a lovely setting for this celebration. 

Favourite Memory Of Bishops Gate Hotel so far:

The past (almost) 2 years have flown by and have been packed with so many great moments that it’s impossible to pick one: from the hotel opening to our team winning awards and all of the lovely cards and comments we have received & being named by Tripadvisor as number 2 hotel in the UK, its been an amazing time.

I love to hear stories from guests who visited the hotel building in its previous life as the Northern Counties Members Club, its lovely when they come in and recognise many of the building features which our hotel owners worked to retain.

Its also great to see family's already building relationships with us - we have had families returning to us for multiple celebrations such as christenings, birthdays and anniversaries. To be part of these special moments is a great experience. 

Favourite Food Or Drink Item  From The Wig & Gown

Our Apple Tart Tatin! It has become our signature dish, I love it!

In The Wig Bar we have a brilliant range of drinks including locally produced spirits such as Hunch Poitin and The Quiet Man Whiskey, its great to see the local industry doing so well.

 Advice for new visitors to the city:

I recommend taking a guided tour of the city - both for city visitors and local residents. During the Summer I took a walking tour with Martin McCrossan City Tours and learned some new facts about the area from our tour guide Sorcha who was full of great information and told it in a wonderful way.
